One I've already heard by my 8 yr old while cleaning out the attic. Dad what are all those books? Those are encyclopedias, we had to use those to find out things before there was the internet. You mean they didn't have the internet when you were growing up? No, very few people even had computers, they were very expensive and couldn't do nearly what they can now. Wow, your old dad.
 
Speaking of gas tanks... don,t get me going on the new "SAFETY" gas cans. If you incapable of pouring a flammable liquid from one container to the next, then you shouldn't start the mower!
 
Ah yes...in the old days, I'd just fill the old gas can and then fill up the mower or chainsaw or Triumph. No muss, no fuss. A few weeks ago, I grabbed a small "emergency" gas can to rescue my son on the highway. With its little "safety" features, I don't think I've ever spilled so much gas trying to get it into the tank of his car! :madder:

A year or so ago I was talking to a child of the same age about VHS tapes. I know for a fact that they were still selling brand new movies on VHS at Target back in 2005 or so. They were ALWAYS children movies. My guess was the adults had dvd players, and would hand down the VCRs to their kids. But I guess he was too young to remember the 1998-2005 DVD transition period. I was sure his parents would have kept some tapes. We got a bluray player in 06, so I wonder if anyone will still remember those in a few years. If you couldnt play DVDs in a bluray player, people probably would forget.

But on the other hand, Ive been explaining to people what MP3s are. Havent this year, but man! 1998-2007 it seems. I thought my dad was so freakin awesome because for xmas a decade ago he got me a CD player that could read CD-RWs with mp3s. I had one of the first mp3 players (could hold more songs than anything on the market for a while since its a disc) But it was something I didnt ask for because where would you buy one? He ordered it on the internet. How cool was that?!? This was about 10 years ago, so it was a HUGE deal, especially for someone his age.

Im at a very awkward age. Im either to young to remember anything, or too old and remember everything. Its a lot like my childhood. To young to do certain things, too old to do certain things.

Some people have the moon landing, my generation however gets to experience the collapse of the US and the fall of the human race. Sadly, many of our experience will involve participation.
 
Tuna chunks contain fish? Who'd a thunk it. Dont forget about the planters peanuts label: Caution contains nuts. (duh thats why I bought it)

A lot of local restaurants, many of them chains, give out free peanuts. Usually they're in a large container, and you take what you want. But most have gone to remove them and only give them upon request. When asked, they said it was fir health reasons. One place where you can still take whatever have signs everywhere about peanut allergies, and for health reasons, not to take the nuts outside (where there are additional tables) I'm thinking someone off the street is going to pick up an empty shell, play with it, and DIE. I could see maybe a 4yo doing that. But how do you know they're alergic unless they experience it first hand? They're going to take their kid inside if they don't know. And while they wait, they'll see the many peanut containers and peanut oil which they cook everything in.

The reason for the retarded labels is for legal reasons. Sure, they can still be sued, but at least they can tell jurors that they tried. Kinda like tabacco and alcohol warnings. And about that... If you smoked way bake when there was no warning, no age minimum, no health  issues, then yes, I see a law suit acceptable. But if you're my age (28) and all your life you've been told they're bad for you, warnings everywhere, then it's your choice. If you sue, the case should be thrown out.

If we can't be expected to take care of our selves, or live with the results of our own mistakes, then why don't we just give up now and let the government babysit us for the rest of our lives.
