Looking for a few AOL users

Lovely. I submitted a request to be whitelisted, but AOL denied me:

Your Whitelist request, with the confirmation code 1480646801-376736, has been denied.
The reason for the denial is that one or more of your IPs has a poor reputation. Please review our sender best practices for tips on improving your IP’s reputation, and examine your mailing list(s).

After you have established a good new 30 day mailing history, please feel free to resubmit your request.

I don't know if this means I'm still being blocked as my "reputation" on their Postmaster page still shows "undisclosed." Guess I'll re-submit in 30 days. In the mean time, if someone registered on the forum with an AOL address, that may not get approved because my system sends them a confirmation email before I can approve them - and AOL customers may not get that confirmation.

Sigh.

Sorry to hear Basil. I was webmaster for my boat club for several years and part of that was sending group emails to the membership. AOL had us blocked too. My only suggestion to the members was get off AOL if you want to receive boat club email.

Always check the history and properties of a number, before it's assigned to you!

Back in the 1950s we moved to a new neighborhood. Had to get a new phone number. Within 24 hours, we started getting all sorts of weird calls, usually after midnight.

Dad asked phone company who had the number before we did.

It had been the night number of the town's fire department, before they went to a 24 hour line.

Lesson learned - and we immediately got a new number.

Well, first, the IP actually does pass all the "black lists" (i.e., not on any black lists).

Secondly, I was purchasing a specific server with specific capabilities and it it located in a specific rack space in the NOC and had no choice on IPs. (I had asked if I could transfer my existing IP to the new server and the answer was no, it's based on where in their NOC it is).

It's only AOL (so far) that's being stinkers about it.

Seriously, I wouldn't waste any more energy on it. Just put a note on your sign-up page stating AOLs status. It should be up to AOL customers to block who they want, not a nanny.

Just wondering - if a BCF member uses AOL for email, does that mean none of BCF's message alerts (PM alerts, topic update alerts, subscription expiration, system wide admin messages, etc.) won't be received by the member?

Well, that's a good question. I don't know what my server status is with AOL right now. I know they denied my request to be added to their "white list" but they show my IP's status as "undisclosed". (It used to say "Bad"). I have tried sending emails to some AOL members here and they have received them, except one person who has not. I know that when the had me listed as Bad and were blocking me completely then none with an AOL account would receive any emails (which means no new members with AOL can join).

really don't know what me status is. They said I can re-apply for the "white list" in 30 days. I don't know if not being on the white list means they will block me or what.
