Looking for a 1275 flywheel

I'm looking for a good condition 1275 flywheel for my Morris. Acutally, it's for Penny Bugeye, as I'm stealing her flywheel to use on the Morris and am now one short. Handy to have 2 cars with the same drivetrain. :grin:

If anyone's got a spare they'd be willing to sell, PM me for details.

27!!!! And they ended up in his basement!!! Even I, a pack rat, can't claim anything like that! They went down into the basement...I'll bet they have a hard time coming UP out of the basement!

I've probably got one if you can't find one closer, Drew. Wife has me traveling to see grandchild this weekend and I would have to do some archaeological digging with a flash light after trudging through snow drift's to find it.

The guy raced BE's for 30 years and gave it up and sold his race car 15 years ago. Bugsy III my old parts car is being turned into a nice BE for he and his wife. Think he's going for totally stock. Springbox on that BE's PS needs replacement it did not phase him at all. A case of BTDT over the years. He's 73 but has a son 45ish who is helping him to restore this BE. His son is as big a packrat with Golf's and some Spridgets as he is with his BE Stuff. I was happy to sell Bugsy III to this guy as I know he will get it back on the road. This one had been sitting inside after some sort of Auto-X incident in '78, which after looking at it I know involved the rear spring box and a crushed spring. More than I wanted to undertake as part of the restoration. I've got enough on my hands with one BE to restore. PS Floorpan for Bugsy II arrives next week. Lots of drilling and cutting coming up for Bugsy II. Progress ever onward.

If you are interested I can weigh it to tell you how much it was lightened

Well, for me, I just want a stock, in useable condition flywheel. Seem hard to find - I must not be looking in the right places.
But, I guess my option would be a lightened one. Was it lightened by yourself, or is it a done by a manufacturer?

If you fail to locate one that suits your needs locally, try calling Scott Harper at Team Triumph. While he deals mostly in Triumphs, I have found many MG parts in his stash over the years. Just be sure that you tell him a 1275, not 1500!

Jim - can you ask that guy you know, or is he strictly BE stuff, as I want/need a 1275 flywheel. Thanks!

These are surprisingly hard to find. I never did find a stock one (project is on the back burner for a while so it hasn't been critical).

Did you wind up going with an aluminum one, or did they have stock ones on hand? I still need one...

They actually had some stock ones on the shelf, for their rebuilt motors. You could always try them and see - just don't swipe mine - I don't have it yet!

Drew, just be cautious before going forward. John advertised these as "lightened flywheels" and I know for certain he has lightened flywheels in such a way as they can not be used with the Datsun clutch/5 speed conversion because of crucial areas that have had material removed.

Well, the hunt is over. I got one from eBay, a little pricey but it looks like it should work just fine. I found a second one after that (at a good deal) so I grabbed it as well for a spare just in case.
