My insanity won't quit. I'm hooking up the trailer and heading off to look at a '66 MGB. It is an aborted project but looks to be complete. Please tell me the pitfalls and problem spots to look for. I'd also like to know what goodies to look for. It is priced very reasonably so I'll probably get it but appreciate your input.

Goodies? Overdrive.

Problems? Rust. Especially structural. Though new pieces can be sourced from the usual suspects.

Rust can cost a bunch to repair and look for colision damage. Also some aluminium hoods tend to be sprung back at the hinges. Once they are like that its hard to get them back into shape and they are $$$ if you can find a good one. First gear in the trans will probably make a bit of noise or be complete trash along with 2nd gear syncro. All is repairable at a price. Get the best body you can find. Post pics! Bob
 
This doesn't happen often, but my trailer followed me home empty! Extreme rust repaired with fibreglass and bondo along with homebrew welded reinforcements. The car was also in a state of partial disassembly with no certainty that all the parts were on hand. It was probably worth more than he was asking in parts, but I don't need an MGB parts car.

Now the universe knows you have a void in your garage and since nature abhors a vacuum, SOMETHING will find it's way into your hands soon enough! :smile:
 
Actually.........I'm a bit over full capacity right now. I've been thinking about adding on to the shop, but I know how that always ends up. It will be over capacity in a month. I have 3 vehicles awaiting pick-up by the new owners, but when they are gone, it will still be full to capacity. Of course I could put a couple up on the lift?!

Ever goof with those sliding number puzzles as a child? Slide the little squares around until you have all the numbers in sequence?

That was preparation for owning more than a few LBC's and having less-than enuff room... :jester:
