Look what showed up again...

I would buy that car if I had lots of extra cash. Make a fantastic restoration template for other cars, and would just be cool to drive around (but just a little). Would make a nice companion to the Tunebug.

Did make a point of grabbing the photos, though. All 164 of them. They're small, but make for an interesting reference point. Who knows what is not truly original, but it sure looks like lots of it is.

Only thing I see wrong is the gas tank cap. Big deal, may be locking replacement for obvious reasons.

Ya know,,,,

I have looked to the pictures that were placed in a word document by someone on here a few times for myself and a buddy. Great car!!! So, that's what that kind of BE will bring... It should IMO. If I had the extra cash I would buy it and put a small block chevy in it.

I don't think he took enough picture /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

And I like this question somone asked:

Q: any paintwork or is entire exterior original finish? Jan-30-08
A: To my eye , it is all original , I can find no evidence of any paintwork , there is no evidence of overspray anywhere . I think the only way to be absolutely certain would be to use a paint-meter but unfortunately I do not have one but I do have 30 years of experience looking at cars and I believe it is all original , Thanks for your interest.

If he was the original owner wouldn't he know if it had "touch up" work done to it? What does he mean "to his eye" either he knows or he doesn't if he is the original owner. It's like taking your kid to the doctor, has he ever broken any bones? Not to my eye....

Somthing does not add up.
Beautiful car though!

Hey, you own it that long you might forget a little touch-up! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I don't think he is the original owner. The ad says one owner until 2004. I'm assuming he bought it from the original owner at that time, so he wouldn't have first hand knowledge of any paint work, etc.

Could have been his fathers, and he got it in the will and is selling it. You are probably right though.

Whoa...Jeff for those kinda bucks I'd take my time one-on-one with it and a magnifying glass......for the money I'd feel much more confident in the quality of the Team Sprite restoration...GOOD LUCK!

Jeff, go for it! I really want this car to wind up in the hands of a real Sprigiteer. That's the only way I'll ever get to see it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I doubt if I'll do it, but I'm considering it. That's a lot of cash to lay out for a Bugeye.
A friend has its virtual clone here, with about 30,000 original miles on it, and it would be fun to run around together.
Originality aside, I could re-do one of my own for less money.
I've got two completely original, rust free, '59's, needing cosmetic restoration, but they're in California. The only original one I've got here is pretty much a basket case.

I can't believe my small block joke didn't spark a commotion..... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I just ignored it figuring Barry was "just having a moment"!!

Love the car and have copied the pictures. Is the semi-gloss black undercarriage/body paint stock. If it is I think I might Por15 the underbody of my car and then paint it with semi-gloss black. Better protection and still the stock look?

Paul

Underbody was the same as the exterior as was under the bonnet.
