Look out Floridians

I'm going to get things ready in the morning. My cover is pretty much shot for the Miata so I cleaned the drains on it really good. I'll move it to the center of the front yard away from the trees. The HOA can hate me if they want. The 'TD just needs its cover tied down.

Looks like we're both going to be dead center in the forecast track, about 24 hours worth of wind and rain.

I guess I am prepared. I brought some plants inside so the pots don't tip over.

I was going to bring in my grill, but it was quite a walk from the backyard to the garage, so I left it in place for the duration.

You leaving the TD outside? Is that whay I read?

Yeah... the fake TD I bought in Gurley AL 7ish years ago (V...ahem...W). Needs an engine.

Ah, the red one that was in a Moontown Airport hanger for years....or the red one that was off Mayesville Road in Huntsville under a tarp next to a little cottage?

This thing won't be as bad as the March "no-name" storm of a few years ago. Biggest fear is it'll pop back into th' Gulf after it roots its way up th'penninsula to around Pensacola.

THAT would be a baaad thing. If it doesn't get to replenish itself over Gulf warm water it'll just burn out.

Batten'd down but not too concerned here at th' hovel.

Nope. I'll have to dig up a picture. This was garage-kept up on a hill somewhere. The guy bought a Merc 340k and got rid of this one. It was a factory demo car for a company that built them here in Daytona in '78.

I used it as a daily driver for years. Fun car to putter around in on the back-roads.

Well, we are currently in the midst of it! LOTS of rain and a bit of wind. We are on the NE front of the storm so we should be getting the brunt of whatever Fay has to offer. We are currently under a tornado watch, so Ive got an ear alert for that "freight-train". The pool is about to crest! I didn't get all the patio furniture battened down and Ol' Bug-I is just sitting under the tonneau cover! Good thing the wind forecasts are minimal or I would have to brave the elements and take care of that stuff!!!

Aesop would be so proud, Mike.

I musta over-reacted. I took the cover off the "QuikShade" covering the MG, put th' grill under the roof of the garage extension and pulled the southern exposure window plywood outta th' Shed... tornadoes and falling tree limbs are our biggest concern here now.

I got kicked off line after the last post due to local tornadic activity! Well Doc., I did get all the storm shutters out and ready, stocked up on fuel for the genny, did a general policing of the property and stocked the pantry. The rest is just kismet!! Other than a good soaking, it looks like this one is going to be pretty mild!! I am more worried about my Mum over there on your side (between N. Ft. Myers and Punta Gorda), but she seems to be well prepared and while she lives in a "manufactured home", the club-house (a sturdy brick building) is a very short golf-cart ride away for her! Tornados are the big concern here too! There have been a lot more alerts for them with this storm than I seem to recall with past storms...maybe the dectection systems for identifying those cells have been greatly improved!! So far we have been dumped on with 6"-8" of rain since 6am!!

Look out Scott!! Over Lake O right now and it looks like she's making a turn and heading up the coast towards you...she's making a big, lazy, backwards "S" right across the peninsula! Should be helping out your water problems up there though!!

Doc., that should keep you on that N.W. "good" side of it!!

Ooof. I suspect yer mum is in less real danger than YOU are from the last look at the track the thing is on.

We've yet to see the rain here. Some gusting and it's dark overcast but dry so far. Looks like you're the "target". About two hours or so before you get "reverse" wind. Keep postin' 'til the power goes. Stay dry.

Nothin' else to do Doc.!! Just sit here and watch the weather! I had a pretty full work-day planned, but that is just a "manyana" thing now!!! This season has been pretty much a big rain-out, and this is like frosting on that cake!

BCF: Instant, on-the-ground weather coverage....hehehe...all we need is live pictures & we don't need no stinkin' Weather Channel!

Real-time coverage here Tony!! Need some pix?...Seen one rain storm, seen 'em all!! :jester:

Boring here, so far. They got heavy rain in Daytona (12 miles away) then it all evaporated and we got nothing. A couple of guys from the local flight school were flying around an hour ago. About time for them to tie-down I should think

Has brightened and lightened up considerably here in the last 1/2 hour! Looks like it is heading up the Treasure Coast now and coming at you Scott! Other than the tornado warnings there has been nothing really exciting about the whole thing!! For a while we were right in all that maroon, red and orange stuff on the weather maps!! Had one tornadic cylinder right over us on the map and it got REAL quiet so I guess it jumped right past us...no roar of the freight-train!

Yeah, just had some nutter grindin' thru it in a Cessna go over, headed DIRECTLY for the landing strip tho.

...and I just put the window plywood back inna Shed. Over here we're still dry. I did a bit of a recon, went to th' QuikRip... west of us out in th' Gulf it's big fluffy clouds and patches of blue. East and south look kinda ominous. Gusting now and then but nothing to get worked up over yet.

'smits is cookin' a couple tube steaks fer lunch now.

Man ,the news hounds make it seem like the worst thing ever!
