Look at this, advise pls

Jack it's been a long time since I've looked at an H1 heat shield closely, but I don't remember that being on there originally. I wish I could jump out to California and look at one of mine, but as I said elsewhere, my SR-71 is in the shop.

Nah, got it sideways during an unstart, and popped a couple of panels.
Jack, is that panel spot welded to the heatshield, like it would be from the factory?

Indeed it is Jeff.
 
That is a heat shield from an early Mk-II Sprite. The piece on the back fits around and protects the mechanical fuel pump. The bent up piece near the middle is supposed to point straight down and is held in place by the bolt that holds the down tube from the side cover.
 
Surely glad I did not do any work on it. Now to find the right one.
