I'm going to try to clean the image up, then pad print onto my lid. I need someone to measure the exact diameter of the printed image (from the outside of the lettering to through the middle of the cap, if you imaging a circle with the letters on the inside of the circle). I also need to know the original color.
I thought about a laser or inkjet printed water decal, but they don't work well on dark backgrounds...too much translucency of the ink. If I can get the correct pad printing ink, I have a small pad printer which will work.

The diameter is 50mm as indicated by the red circle. The image was made into a rubber stamp like you use in the office then I put enamel model paint on it and pressed it against the lid. I'm sure if I did a few more practices the image quality would improve, the main issue was holding it perfectly in the same place without it sliding around. I'm going to call it good enough for now.

You could try water decal paper for inkjet printers (they make it for laser too). Here is a link to one with directions. https://www.decalpaper.com/product-p/tryc.htm

Just read through Rich's last post, I haven't tried the decals myself so I'll defer to his experience. (I reserve the right to change my mind though;))

It would be like making a deposit in the favor bank! ;) ;)

My original cap is "lace thin" with corrosion, but still intact, so I'm looking for another lid, if anyone knows of a particular jar lid that fits.
 
I'm game; I submitted an order, but they have to calculate shipping and get back to me, so likely won't hear anything until Monday. I ordered five (5), so some extras to play with.

And so I have. I came up with two possible techniques to use the water decals and get a vibrant yellow.

Method 1:
Paint the top of the cap with a satin white.
mask off the top center with a 2" dot (Avery makes some) or make a circle with some low tack tape.
Paint the rest of the cap with black paint.
Print the logo with the background switched to black and the logo in yellow. Extend the black background of the label out so it will completely cover the white area of the cap.
Apply the decal over the white area of the cap.

Method 2:
Paint the cap all black.
Paint a light coat of flat white Krylon Fusion plastic paint onto the printing side of the decal sheet.
Using the same logo as in method 1 (yellow logo with black background), print onto the white decal sheet.
Apply logo to top of cap.

The second method should be easier to do since you won't have to line the decal up exactly to cover the white area of the cap.

Of course! Still no word about the LR lids yet, but they're probably closed all weekend (I did get an E-mail ackowledgement, so they know I want them).

From the pic It looks like you've got loops on the axle stands around the wheel hubs.

Can I ask nwhere you got these from or did youmake them.

Brilliant idea,never seen them before. It would certainly eliminate the shaky wobbles when the stands are on the chassis rails or diff.
 
Hi TonyK- the axle stands in the panel-shop pic are just supporting the splined hubs so the chassis is weighted correctly for the panel alignment. There is a bunch of tape and some bits of aluminium on the splines to protect them but that is all.

While searching the photos vault I found this pic of my original lid which shows that the decal was probably screen printed on judging by the pattern visible in the letters.

Can anyone get me a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color for the ink on this top. I can get color matched ink to pad print if I can get this info.
