Longbridge BN4 exhaust

Hi Bob,

BN4 Longbridge tail pipe is same as BN2 but with 2" added in for the chassis lengthening. When the improved cylinder head came along at the end of 57 it changed to a twin system. Were your BN4s post December 57?

Andy.

Andy - very impressive drawing!!!! I could have used that six months ago. where did you get the 2 in 1 out muffler for your beauty?

Hi Jim,

Thanks! Muffler came from Bob Yule at Autofarm and was very reasonably priced for something that has been stored on a shelf for probably 30 years or more. I'd be fairly sure the Longbridge muffler is the same as BN2 except with a different front plate to take the dual rather than single inlet. Can't be sure of that though. There's an interesting x-ray pic of a BN4 muffler on healeysix.net showing the internal design.

Not sure, so many years ago, the first one had the modified head and was a 'bitsa car' any way, and the other was original and had the gallery head but twin exhaust pipes. You learn something new every day!

Is that a boy's head in the back seat? If so, that's a BN4 -- now where in the heck does that guy think that suitcase is going?

Steve - Actually in 57 a company, Warren leather Goods Company from Worcester Ma, was making a line of luggage for the Longbridge 100-Six and the MGA
