Long winters and a restart

I know what should be done to restart an MG after a VERY long slumber, but what should be done if it has sat for a shorter period of time?

For example;

I've been working on some exhaust brackets and don't have it quite completed. Holidays came and then did the cold. I probably have not started her in alost 6 weeks. Can I just go in and fire her up?

What about hydraulics? Can they sit for 6 weeks without use. IE; clutch & brakes.

This question is for future knowledge for anyone who might be thinking the same thing.

For those of who do not know, my car was revived after a long slumber ala the Autoist and all of my hydraulics are new.

After a short slumber it shouldn't require anything special. I usually pour a some oil in the rocker box, crank it with the ignition off until oil pressure comes up and then fire it up. The first drive should be long enough to get the engine nice and hot so any moisture will be expelled from the oil.

Turn the key, pull the choke and hit the starter.

Shucks I've been TDY longer than that.

Yup, Yup, and just make sure the garage doors are open.

6 weeks without being started - that's normal for some of my cars! If the battery's not dead, I just fire 'em up & drive!

My CGT has been sandwiched in between one of my 911s and a Baja Bug for about two months since the weathers been so bad, but a few days ago I pushed them around enough to get the door open on the C. Turned the key...fuel pump started clicking..pulled the choke and like magic, it cranked right up. Now I'm bummed because the weather here looks grim and no let-up in sight. I did fire up the B and backed it out of the shop so I could do some dreaded customer service work.

I actually notice this after a few weeks. Battery is new but it sounds real week after it sits. Why is this? It is a generator car that is to my knowledge pumping out what it should be. How can I test for a drain or is this small.

The battery in my truck (also a Sears diehard gold) has been in there for over 8 years and just know because of the cold am I starting to hear it be a little week.

Oh and great news that I should not have problems starting it up. Thanks.
