Long distance car buying?

Who here has bought a car 1000 miles away before? How would you get a disassembled project car home if you decided to buy one? Especially if you don't have a trailer or something that'll haul one? Tony, you up for a roadtrip?

Without question - rent a truck. Drive there and get it and ALL the parts myself.

In 1982 I bought a disassembled 64 Healey 3000 in Rochester, NY where I went to school. I lived in western MA, so I came home from school in May, took a bus back to Rochester with my toolbox, reassembled and got the healey running after it had been sitting for 6 years and drove it home 6 hours! I only had to put the windshield and front fenders on, bleed brakes/clutch and put lights on, but I had a few glitches. Once I got on the road it went like a train. Whole thing took 3 days! Car cost $1300.00.

Who are you? I wish I were a better mechanic, that is a cool story.
