What a fabulous video! I never get tired of this one.

London to Monte Carlo Race between a train and a DB9!

Good clip

Super FUN!!! I keep wondering if that crew will stop outdoing themselves!! That's as entertaining as Fawlty Towers or Monty Python!

This remains my favorite show on TV. I've managed to acquire all 8 series of the current show, and keep going back and watching clips from various shows. Such passion for cars! Too much fun...

As a Brit myself, I find their wacky Britishness a little excessive, but the material is good.

The earlier post referring to Monty Python is quite apropos, particularly in reference to the DB9/TGV race.

I like how the French Police kept encouraging Jeremy to driver faster... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

The French Police probably wanted him to go faster so they could get on the show by giving him a speeding ticket. Can't think of a better slow down or get a speeding ticket advertisement for them.

The police will come along side of you like that in Baja Mexico and urge you to go faster too. Problem is – they’ll pull you over.

Don’t ask me how I know? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

That is excellent TV. Shows about cars are too often long on numbers and statistics and short on anything that will keep your eyes open. Presenting the pertinent numbers in an entertaining format is a nice change.

I lived in France for several years and became accustomed to the way the Autoroute is driven, and have driven that Autoroute all the way from the Channel coast to Monte Carlo. The last 100 miles have some of the most spectacular views on any road anywhere in the world rivalling Hwy 1 in California. And the final dip down into Monaco is the most scary set of hairpin turns down a 45 degree slope you could ever wish to drive.

The speed limit on the Autoroute is nominally 130km/h, say about 85mph. You will almost never find ANYONE going that slow, even in a tiny little sewing-machine-like car. Most European small cars have fairly long top gears these days and can do over 90mph.

Many drivers of medium and larger sized cars (compacts by US standards) sit at 160km/h (about 100mph) or more for hours at a time and the gendarmes take absolutely no notice. But if you sit for too long in the left lane, that is just about the only thing you will get pulled over for.

Les flics were probably genuinely surprised to see the TG guy driving the DB9 at only 130km/h.

Ben, c'est un Anglais! C'est normale, quoi?

That's the only speed that appeared on camera...best to have no photographic evidence of breaking the law...some people have no sense of humor about that sort of thing.

are there any video websites that show more of top gear?

the caravan holiday is great , not sure if its still on youtube .

Beaulieu

Yes, if you go to youtube.com and run a search for Top Gear, you will come up with lots!

The main site I use for Top Gear is:

https://www.finalgear.com

They've got a nice listing of all the episodes, and links to where you can download many of the episodes if you'd like. When the new season starts there will be notices for each new show as they come out. New series should start January 28.
