A heads up for anyone making plans for the 50th.

We have just gone another round with the Victorian Village people. Initially we had made reservations for the June dates. We made reservations for Sunday night through Friday night. Room rates were quoted at $95 for all nights except Friday which would be $110. With the date change we tried to change our reservation dates. Now we were told that the $95 applies only to Monday through Thursday nights. Coming in on Sunday would cost $140 and staying through Friday night would be $185 for that night. We will now be there for only the four nights.

Yep.... they're busy on the weekends, and it's their "high season".

You're gonna love it.

Snow should off the roads by then.

Peter

My experience was quite different. I changed my reservation from June to July. The rate for Sunday through Thursday was $95 plus tax. Confirmation letter received (by email) with 24 hours.

That is interesting. It looks like I'll be on the phone with them tomorrow. I feel discriminated against. It would seem to me that everyone in the group should get the same rate. I hope my call won't mess over your rate and that your confirmation will be honored.

I don't want to speak for the hotel people, but....

The weekend before our event is the KIC Kohler International Challenge. Arguably the largest vintage race event in the US. People who have, or are getting rooms at these 2 very popular hotels for that weekend, typically arrange for 4 days. That can span the weekend through Sunday night. Apparently the hotels have a package of 4 days for the racers. There may or may not be rooms available for Sunday night.

Nelson, you ARE getting the same rate for the event dates.

I just changed my reservations
Mon-Thurs nite @ $95/nt.

I think that VV should work with us since they sold us out to NASCAR.
I understand that NASCAR and KIC are waaaay bigger, however they should make an effort to accomodate us, since we had an agreement for rooms dating back 6 months

NASCAR moved their date by one week. Not VV's fault. AND, trust me, you wouldn't want to be there the week before their race. We wouldn't be able to get to the track, and the place would be lousy with Budlight at inflated prices. It's a small, picturesque town with one of the best race tracks in the world. It took a lot of effort to get them to drop their prices to the "low season" rate.

I sure hope it warms up. I'm in appleton right now and its cold dark and snowing  Nice folks up here. I ma returning back home tomorrow. I was hoping I would get free time to run over and see where the track is but it gets dark too darn early here and not worth traveling on the slick roads.
