Does anyone on the Forum own a AH with a locking steering column?

I need to know how it's wired?
Is the locking mechanism electrical, or mechanical?

My BJ7 is a Euro spec car.

Thanks for replying. You may contact me off line if you prefer, but a photo of how it's wired would really be super.

From what I can gather, I would sugest that the locking mechanism was mechanical but there was ignition and starter also incorporated into them which is obviously electrical. You car came from either Germany or Sweden.

Johnny, my BJ-7 has the locking steering column. Yes it was first delivered to Germany. I haven't had the need to look at the mechanism closly but I,m pretty sure the steering lock is mechanical. I'll take a close look at it tomorrow and report back. What specific info are you looking for.

Johnny, for what it is worth, I can't post pics right now so, here is what I see when I look at the locking steering column/ignition lock on my BJ7.
Laying with my head on the floor with the back of my head touching the pedals, the key barrel lock is more or less in a horizontal position with the key slot naturally facing the drivers seat. The key barrel is perpendicular to the main part of the switch body which looks as if it has a sliding pin that slides vertical up into the column. This would be the mechanical steering column lock. on the back side of this main body facing the pedals and opposite the ignition key are four electrical terminals. They are in a rounded triangular more or less oval pattern. They are not necessarily concentric on a circle. But the pattern diffinately has an oval pattern to it with definate positions more or less related to top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right. The top left terminal is in approxamitely the 10 o'clock position and has a white wire with red tracer attached. The top right terminal is in approx. the 2 o'clock position and has a brown wire with a blue tracer attached. The bottom left terminal is in approx. the 7 o'clock position and has (2)white wires attached. The bottom right terminal is in approx the 4 o'clock position and has no wires attached. I hope this can help you.

Thanks vette for responding. Yes, my car was shipped to Germany, and yes I did need suspect the mechanism was mechanical not electrical, thanks for confirming it. The wiring description you gave is perfect, thanks for looking.
