TR2/3/3A Locking screw on rocker arm shaft, TR-3

So there I was happily re-assembling my new valve train assembly, well almost new, the pedestals are from the old one, and I discovered that there was a lock washer under the pedestal locking screw. Not tempted to use the old one. Moss doesn't offer one to replace it with. Not sure about the other two. Could I use lock-tite and call it a day? Or put it in for spacing purposes and use the lock-tite?

Anyhow thanks for your help!

Cheers, Tinkerman

Tink, it doesn't have to be from an LBC vendor. Go down to NAPA and get some new ones.

I have reused that cupped starwasher on numerous rocker arm assemblies and it has never been a problem and the little grub screw has never become loose. YMMV /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif

It's a special cupped "external star" lockwasher ... I doubt NAPA would have one. However, Moss UK has it listed on their website as P/N WK7607.

Rocker Arm Specialists replaced mine when they rebuilt the shaft, but I don't see any reason Loctite wouldn't work. Try a test assembly without the washer; if the screw grips the pedestal firmly with only light tightening, then you don't need the washer as a spacer. But if you can still wiggle the pedestal on the shaft, you need the washer (or to cut a small counterbore into the shaft).
Obviously (I hope) the light tightening is only for test; final assembly should be tightened firmly.

Thanks all. Yep, Randall I got the obvious, thanks.
