In case any of you thought New Jersey was all ice cream and ponies, I drive past this historic sign every day.

We also have large black bears that wander around.
And The Mafia.
It's a scary place!

Can you train the large black bears to go after the mafia...........LOL

Nial,

They're not the Mafia - they're Italian Insurance Adjusters.

I wouldn't thing that New Jersey would be so hard up for historical events to put on markers like that.

Didn't some guy named "Washington" dispatch a bunch of Hessians out there somewhere, on a Christmas Eve a couple hundred years ago?

It's actually a county marker...the state does different ones.

We were at Washinton's Crossing Park last week (with grandaughter). We live near Washington's Headquarters, Jockey Hollow and Fort Nonsense in Morristown, so we see all sorts of state markers related to him all the time. Washington attended our church too.

It's hard to miss references to George Washington in NJ.
