True story: My parents divorced when I was nine. The summer between my four and fifth grades, Mom moved my two sisters and me from Shreveport to Corpus Christi. My first day in fifth grade, the teacher had all the students tell who they were, where they lived, etc. At my turn, I introduced myself, and said I was from Shreveport, "Looziana", which is how we pronounced Louisiana. The teacher corrected my pronunciation (which, of course, made me feel great), and had I been a bit more assertive, I would have said, "HEY! I should know - I LIVED there!"
Wish I'd been from N'awlins - she'd have had a field day with me!

I find most folks from MS say "Loosyana" and folks from LA say "Miss Sippy".
Pne thing's for sure, spellying things "funeticly" is REALLY big here. They had a guy run for sherrif and his slogan was, "A difference 4U2C."
....I am NOT kidding !!!
I told Kelly, "Yeah, let's give ~THIS~ guy a badge and a GUN !!!"
He also owned a towing company called, "4U2C Towing"...I'm still trying to figure out that one out... (Am eye jus gonna luk at yew, R RU gunna toe mI kar ?!?!?)

Now, really, now of this is even close to Olde Englande (Leicester, Bicester, Grosvenor, Berkeley, etc.) and Bonnie Scotland in making it difficult for outsiders.
My little town near Glasgow is called "Mulguy"- spelt Milngavie...
And my wife's from a little town in Wales near Cwmbran....
