List of things wrong.

Finished it's thorough inspections last night, and the best part is, I got lucky, very lucky indeed...

No brake fluid, (bled already) near side warped rotor and stuck caliper.
Near side front tire slow leak (wires, poss bad tube).
Near side front susp very bouncy, doesn't settle quickly.
No clutch fluid, poss leaky cyl.
O/D switch or solenoid kaput, not sure where that could be.
Off side rear rebound strap broke, springs OK.
Gas tank empty, no rust.
Exhaust is a mess.

Motor is excellent.

What I thought would be a restoration is turning out to be a minor recovery, being on one axle stand (front) did half the damage above, but it should be going by spring.

O/D is something I am not familiar with, or its diagnosis of what could be wrong there, I'll ask when I get to that.

Curious what symptons make you think either the OD switch or solenoid is "kaput"?

Good to hear on the other things - that's all just maintenance!

100% PO testimony for the OD. I have no knowledge of such to support it either way. From what I understand, there may be components that are fragile or prone to failure. He simply said that it failed to engage one day, and never worked after.

That could be several things! Probably a real simple fix like pulling the filter assembly & cleaning or cleaning & regreasing the little ball that goes into the 'butt' of the solenoid.

Barry it sounds like you got Christmas late this year.

Ahhh, might tell the wife this one is for her?

Could be as silly as a broken wire at the switch, too.

Good to hear, Barry. Sounds like you found a good one there. Overdrives are certainly notorious for being finicky (never could get the one in my TR4 to work) but they're not all that complicated. Trace the wires, and drain/clean out the overdrive and you may be in business.

She's already expressed an interest, it could work to my sinister advantage..... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Aware that the OD doesn't work isn't a great inspiration right now. Getting her moving and safe is. If I have to replace the clutch, I'll add it to the list, but I'm just tickled I can her out in the wild for maybe less than $500.

Doc maybe on to something, there is a gaggle of wires coming from the steering cowl that looks like something may have been attempted. I'll slowly trace them and see which one it is.

A white one and a yellow one if memory serves.

Yep, a white & yellow go down to the OD
