Lipstick on a blue frog

Gundy

Mimi is brandishing a blade and wearing matching lipstick.
Wife said it gives the car a finished look.
I had to agree.
The rear bumpers are unfinished. All bracket/braces are chromed front & rear and the old Amco unit eliminated the upper bracket.
Now to get some stock ones chromed for the rear.
Oh, and the pull starter switch went dead.
At least that happened in the driveway. Good frog.

I love the smile on those frog-eyes; very nice car

Nothing like shiney new chrome on shiney new paint. Looks great!

Pull starter switches are easy to repair. Here is how.

Cut each end twice with a hack saw or small grinder and bend the tabs you have made back with pliers. ends and sides. Open and clean contacts with a file.

What all have you done to her Gundy. That one is much more pretty from when I last saw her. We must ride together soon. Its been way too long. I have no excuse. Please let me know the next time you foothills gang are going riding. I was thinking about you folks about 2 weeks ago. My brother got a place down near Townville, SC and I took 11 most of the way and saw the boiled Peanuts

Very nice! I admit, I much prefer the Bugeyes with the front bumper on. I agree with your wife, it does finish off the car.

Not to hyjack the thread, but had the BE out today, and it was so sweet. Finished the 5-speed last month and then got the Hap wheels on. This is the first time since I owned it (on the road for a year) that I really wound it out. It hit 6500 real nice, no sign of running out of steam, what a ride! Everything about this car is just so right, it makes all the heartaches putting it together worth it.

Thanks for the tip! I've ordered another but I'll keep the old one for a spare. Cool!

Is that Hap's MGBGT in the garage or have you got another?

That would be the wife's MGB. Hap's GT is down for repairs right now.
Let's do a run soon Kim!

Love the black/white pic!

David, the bumpers definitely look better. I'm not a big fan of the bumperless look, in most cases. The extra chrome really seems to give the car a more "sohphisticated" appearance.

Really nice resto job on that Frog, David. A real head-turner. :yesnod:

I liked it better before with the stripes and bumper less.

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. The stripes were cool and can always be added, vinyl or paint, and the same goes for the bumpers. 4 bolts and it's off.
I think if I ever add stripes I'll incorporate the bumperless
front into the stripe somehow. I've seen several I like.
If I had striped her now it wouldn't be so easy to change
to it's present look.
It's evolving. Input always welcomed and appreciated.

I think BugiMike used to have a handle on vinyl stripe kits. Have not seen him around lately. Must be busy working. I might be needing some.

yep, keep the old starter switch. You will need it. The new ones do not seem to last too long.

The short life of the current new looking unit would appear
to confirm your observations. It looks brand new.
I'll try the fix and then put the fixed unit in spare bin.
Good to know. Thanks!

Hi There David,

It "Appears" as if your "Bumper Bar" may be on "Upside-Down"?? It also "Appears" that its "Bowed" or something right in the Center & It seems like ea. end of the Bar is pointing outward as oppossed to being straight with the body. I have to presume Its probably somesort of optical illusion or the position of the camera????

I feel the Frontal Appearance of your Bug/Frog would look much better if re-mounted the Front Overriders.

Just an opinion. Its Your Ride.

Regards, Russ

Hi David,

I just learned this weekend that Hap may have some changes in the LBC he drives in the very near future! I really rather not say What or When.
