Queen Bees at that!
The beauty queens at the British Car show all wanted
their pics taken in the Sprite. They all took turns at
the wheel. I had to use their cameras so they all got
a pic to save.
"It's sooooo cute!" was heard over and over.
Wife was not amused. I was calling it Beauties and the Beast.

Now why wasn't the wife impressed ? Gee I wonder hee hee
"it's so cute", I got that comment yesterday from a nice girl as I pulled into a parking lot... funny her boyfriend didn't look impressed  gee I wonder why ;-)
Good Stuff, thanks for sharing

Just explain that when they say, "It's so cute!" they mean the car, not you...

(That <span style="font-style: italic">is</span> what they mean, isn't it?)

In my case the car is the ONLY plausible explanation :troll:

+1 in my case. :jester:

It does seem that folks like our cars as nice "backdrops". I saw people using my '69 MGB in photos at our recent college graduation.

And I was asked to do some semi-official promo-shots at the recent Jefferson 500. Here is a sample (the cheerful bloke in the cap is Brian Redman).

I think the TR won best in show. I can't remember the
badges on the thing but I think it had numbers like
2000 or 1500 or something. It was immaculate! That
rumble seat with windscreen was over the top. Ran like
a top too.
I have no details about the Sunbeam with the fastback top
but it wasn't a V8 and the top was not removable. A real
beauty. The pics don't do the cars/event justice.
I somehow have no pics of the '39 Riley. Or the 100-4
Big Healey that was my favorite. No pics of some awesome Jags either. I do have some pics of a TR5 with fuel injection and
a perfect Tiger with an "eat off it" V8.
Somehow I missed getting pics of a Bugeye in white that was bone stock original and SWEET.
No pics of the nice Morgan either. No Lotus pics as well.
Must of been the beauty Queens caught my eye and I was temporarily blinded and dumbstruck.
The picnic basket is circa 1963, made by Abercrombie and Fitch
in England. Service for 6 with cups, saucers, plates, forks,
spoons(sugar and tea),knives, two thermmos and two metal tins for food.
You see why the wife wanted OEW MGB....it matches the plates, cups and knives.

Well I went to the photo file and blew up the TR pics and the sign in front says 1940 Triumph 2000.
Sunbeam has a side chrome piece that says LeMans in script.
Man, I love my Nikon D90.

Actually a Triumph Roadster - there was an 1800 version and a 200 version. Imaginative name though :driving:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Roadster

Nice research JP! I checked again blew it up REAL big
and the "0" appears to be "8". Oops! It's pretty fuzzy when I
magnify the digital image that much.
The sign read as follows:
1948
Triumph 2000
Roadster

For some reason he chose to put the 2000 next to the name Triumph and the word roadster underneath those words.

There is a detailed discussion in print too small for
me to read even when enlarged. Hehe...maybe I should'a
used the 35mm camera. I've become spoiled to instant gratification I suppose. :jester:

Maybe because the proper name of the car really was Triumph 2000 Roadster, not Triumph Roadster 2000?
Just a thought....

That sunbeam looks an awful lot like my friend's 1962 Sunbeam Alpine Harrington Le Mans... I'm far from an expert on these cars, but if that is what I think it is its a rare car indeed.

Picture of the one I know from a show locally yesterday:
https://picasaweb.google.com/nburress/200...624170482602354

Sure looks like the one you linked. The word "LeMans" appears
to be in the same place along the side of the one you linked.
That I can clearly read when I magnify the image of the one at the local show.

I guess I should have asked a LOT of questions I didn't
but there were Scottish games going on and many friends to chat with and I even joined a Clan so single malt Scotch was also involved as well. :thirsty:
It sure was a fun time.

I found a Lotus pic I overlooked.
The black one was some Player special or something.
The little red was was just dang pretty.
Side says Elan 1600.

Since I own one and a B/E. It was not TR1. That car was a precurser (only one made) to the TR2 and was not well received. The 2000 Triumph Roadster (1948-1949) or 20TR 2.0 liter (standard built) and the 1800 (1946-1947) 1800 Triumph Roadster 1.5 liter or 18TR (jaguar built) were named for there approx cc. The vin were TRA XXXX for the TR2000 and TRDXXXX for the 1800 and about 2000 were made of each model. Strangely enough there are 4 within 5 miles of my house.

When I am done with the B/E I will continue with my roadster. Finding the parts for my B/E has been a lot easier than my '49 TR. Don't hate my b/c I like Triumph too
