TR2/3/3A Lift the Dot question

Hi,

Should a TR-3a (post 60K) have two different length Lot the Dot studs? The studs in the door and the forward capping stick out a 1/2" from the body. The studs around the rear capping, stick out 3/4". Is this correct? Its really hard to get the tonneau cover on, shorter studs would probably help.

Thanks, Roy

Roy,

I am by no means an expert but I can tell you that on both of mine, the only longer stud is at the top of the b post where the double thickness of the tonneau cover snaps on. The other studs are too short for this purpose. I am sure the others will chime in.

Cheers
Tush

I am a TR4 guy, but have you checked the TR3 Top section of Moss online. Their online info seems to have more detail then the paper catalogue.

They are good at showing exactly what goes where or even better would be the original Triumph TR3 parts manual.

My original Triumph 20 TR4 manual shows exactly which length pegs go where for the TR4.

I would agree with Tush. On mine, when we installed a new cover, the upholsterer that installed the LTD fasteners into the cover questioned whether there should be a longer peg on the B post. We went with the short peg and it accomadates the two thicknesses of material just fine.
