i think both my master brake and master clutch cylinder are giving it up. they were either rebuilt or replaced by a mechanic close to 15 years ago. lot of brake fluid in the area and both seem to lose fluid over time. fortunately i've got silicone/DOT 5 so its not damaging the paint.

is this about the expected life?

ok. i guess its time to rebuild/replace. any reason to do one over the other? the difference in price between the kits and the items does not seem that much.

You cant really decide until you remove, clean and inspect the bores.
Im on my third reproduction Mc for my TR3 in only 3 years and now 7k miles. If I was going to do it again I would send it to somebody like Apple who could resleeve if necessary.

+1 on re-sleeving. I was fortunate enough to have a very good retired machinist up the street from me. He had a CNC machine, Lathe, Press, and more. He re-sleeved my clutch MC and it probably won't wear out. Didn't charge a thing. If the bore is worn, a rebuild won't help.
