Life in the boondocks

Flip flops? Gag. Just waiting for that first lottery check then I'm outta here.

Crank up & move already....house sales are beginning to go up around here....find a good deal somewhere where there's no snow & go for it!

Oh! And one should NEVER need to break chunks of water outta th' way just to have the opportunity of catchin' a FISH!! It just ain't RIGHT. :smirk:

But then you can't play with the ice drill :cowboy:

We have something like your "ice drill"...it's called an 'auger' & we can drill holes all day with it!

I think it's still fluctuating here a little. We saw the first decline in the population since 1946 this year.

Finally have the satellite connection working again. The service guy was just here and aimed the dish at a newer, higher, satellite. Good bye, SATMAX5 - hello "G3"!

Re snow, ice, and all - it does get old after a while. We spent about half of last winter in warmer climes & will probably do that again. But I'd find it hard to skip winter entirely - ultra-quiet, kills the mold & bugs, sort of cleans the place out, ya' know? Good for the soul, hard water and all.

(The satellite company here also sells wood burning furnaces - just found that out).

Now, there's a difference in technologies!

Whoa! That takes "corporate diversification" to a higher level! Gives 'em a great fallback position for when so-called G3~G4 fall to pieces from overcrowding by Nuevo Yuppies streaming Brittany vids and iPhone Farcebook/YouBoob links to their "lists"...

....I think I like it!

Diversification for sure. I guess you do what it takes to survive. We used to have an optometrist down on the coast who sold lobsters.

Anyway, the new satellite seems to be working fine. The originally offending maples will live for a while longer, but a small birch and a beech will need to be made into firewood (or furniture) before long since they're in the way. Maybe we need one of those wood burning furnaces after all. Some sort of subtle synergy there I suppose.

Embrace it.

... and have a cheeseburger.

I'm currently grillin' up some chicken bits outside onna grill. A jerk marinade...

Heck.... skip the middle man...... just light the tree on fire!!

Or, Doc could just stuff a hot laptop down his pants

That's a real "warning"? Holy cow.

I did buy two winter shirts at the local Sam's club a few weeks ago. Heavy Levis with a fake wool liner. When we were down in the 40s a couple of weeks ago I had the top down in the Miata and wore one of them over top of my usual short sleeve, man they're warm!
