Hi Bob,
From what I understand, and I know I will be corrected if wrong, a 5 amp fuse was installed on BJ8 Phase 2 models. The issue is that water entering the light has caused a short that can burn pack wiring insulation and devastate the rear harness. Although BJ8 Phase 2s have the fuse, all previous Healey model owners should install the inline fuse as their license plate lights are mounted low and more vulnerable to water penetrations.

Thanks for the information.
I have a June '67 production BJ8, mostly original, and cannot find the inline fuse for the license plate. Any idea's on where to look before I splice into the wire? I was planning to splice into the wire as it comes out of the harness right before the licences plate light.

No fuse on PH2 cars but a lot of guys add them 5 amp should be fine , if theres a dead short it will blow . Also if you get rear ended and the wiring is shorted your wiring harness wont self destruct

None of my BJ8 cars had them I had to add them.

Make it a fast blow fuse well protected from physical harm in the boot
