LGD = Little German Dog

The Jetta Wagon is spending the weekend at the dealership. The good news is they found the leak: The grommets of the two wiring looms that go into the liftgate for the lock, wiper, defroster, etc. were not sealing, so water was getting into the headliner and dripping down through the tailgate and into the cargo floor. The parts have to be ordered from VW and with the car apart, it was just easier to give me a loaner.

The loaner has a "No Pets" policy, and Mrs. Saxman was taking the Corolla with our daughter someplace else this AM. That left me only with the Sprite to transport our two dachshunds to the Dachtoberfest in Frederick, Maryland, which had been postponed from the first weekend in October due to the threat of Hurricane Joaquin.

Surprisingly, my Little German Dogs took to the Little British Car and were extraordinarily well behaved. It was raining on the way to Frederick, so I had to keep the top up. I left it that way on the way home as it was pretty chilly. I think they found the car's vibrations relaxing, so they pretty much sat tight on the passenger seat. On the way home, both drifted off after being exposed to 150+ other dachshunds and Zeke (the grey one) howling his fool head off every minute or so.

Some say it is because the House of Windsor was originally the House of Saxe-Coburg that it was a natural for Little German Dogs to feel comfortable in a Little British Car. Next time, we'll hopefully try it with the top down!

Dogs are good people.
dont care where your going, don't care why your going, don't care what your going in.
just want to go with you.

Hi David...Do you think they realized that the last dogs in that car were our two Chihuahuas?

Hi Larry, It's hard to say. The seats were reupholstered which would definitely hide any smell there. The two of them were definitely spending a lot of time sniffing around the passenger footwell, and Zeke (the grey dog) seemed to keep going back to where the passenger vent window meets the roll down window.

As much fun as the car is top-down, it's still more than a bit of fun to drive with the top up. It doesn't feel as fast with the top up...the perception of speed seems to be lowered, but still fun to drive nevertheless.

Not sure about that "what you're going in" remark as my dog hates the Wedge and barks at it when it moves.
But agree to all the rest
All I have to say is
"Car Ride" and he goes nuts

Must be TR's they don't like. Mury won't get in mine without persuasion and greatly objects to speeds in excess of 45mph. He prefers the back seat of cars and has enjoyed over 20,000 miles in the back of the VW:

you probably hit on something there.
my border collie, loves to sit in the 3, if he thinks we're going somewhere..... but the engine noise (or low level vibration) sends him running. He doesn't mind the truck at all.

Let us pray:

Dear Lord,
So far I've done all right.
I haven't gossipped,
haven't lost my temper,
haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent.
I'm really glad about that.

But in a few minutes, God,
I'm going to get out of bed.
And from then on,
I'm going to need a lot more help.

Too Late

1. He shouldn't be afraid of going in a Triumph - they can't go over 45 anyways.

2. "He barks at the wedge" (he has taste)

3. "He loves to sit in the 3, if he thinks we're going somewhere." (don't worry, it's a Triumph it's not going anywhere) (80% of Triumphs are still on the road - th rest managed to get a tow or find another way home)

4. Of course he doesn't like the car - dogs can smell disaster.

5. Of course he doesn't like the car, dogs can smell fear (and fire!)

etc. etc.

Forgive me Lord, I have sinned.

It's a real good thing my TR3 isn't running right now, otherwise I'd come up there and give you a piece of my mind.
(I'd bring my dog too.....but he won't ride in it)

JP, you aren't getting a Christmas card from me this year.
