I think I need to add oil to my Midget lever shocks. Should I clean them inside first? if so how and with what?
 
JP, I've just always used clear mineral oil that you get from the drug store.....draining old out & adding new until all I get out is clear.
 
do you just pour in swish around pour out or pump or what?
 
I pour it in, move the arms around, turn it over & let it run out which sometimes takes awhile....oh, don't forget to remove the valve for cleaning.

which is where? all I know is the bolt Mark had Phil take out when we were refilling his - this the fill hole (as opposed to the Phil hole :jester: I suppose)
 
Unless there's a reason to think it got dirty inside, I've never found a need to clean them out. They pretty much work or they don't, and leak or don't leak.

If you do drain and refill, make sure you bleed all the air out of the thing. Takes a lot of working the arms up and down. Use a non-foaming oil to prevent cavitation and loss of proper damping action.
