Let's come up with a gesture or greeting.

Basil's "empty wallet" wave would be good, OR, pull both pockets out of your pants to indicate there's no moolah left. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif

Steve, there's no French cars of any abundance around here, just a mid-80's 405 and a Renault 5 I see with reasonable regularity.
The gesture implied is more of a 'what if', although the palm outward V's is plenty common.

I drive a regular car for work, but I always roll down the window and do the "V" to British classic cars. An occasional middle finger addresses the situation I might be in, although this rarely happens and never to a fellow Brit car owner.

The Harley thing seems to be universal. In the MG I usually give a smile & subtle nod to acknowlege that I am being stared at. Have not passed any MG's in my MG so not sure what to do. Tip of the hat is appropriate.

In a bugeye you wave like heck and try to get em to stop.

Round here,it's fairly common to get waved at.Doesn't seem to matter what vehicle you are in.I even get waves when I'm riding my bicycle.Mind you, sometimes that's just telling me to move out of the way. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
If I see another LBC I just wave, not that I see many.

ya know... where I grew up your front pockets turned inside out was indicative of something I cannot talk about on these forums... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Something wrong with a simple wave? Been working for 80 years.

I think that the idea was to be able to identify a fellow BCF member from the greeting.

I have to say that the idea has great merit, however there are just too few of us for this to really work as things stand at present.

Well, while sitting on the side of the road, we could stick our right thumb out, palm up as if we're asking for a ride! hehehe

And i did exactly that this past June. Luckily I was only a few miles away from my mechanics garage. Seem s 3/8ths on a Smiths gas gauge is really empty - very empty. New sending unit.

I think the V for victory (or peace) would do well.

Just don't do it with palm facing you to an Englishman.

What's so WRONG with the traditional "Two Flicks" on the high-beam flasher?!?!? That was ALWAYS the appropriate sign of recognition... and for the French car drivers, t'was the "Peace Sign" with a few modifications: palm inwards, two quick wrist-flips in the upwards direction... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

doc, why dont we just use the same greeting as the "italian" car club we wouldnt have to practice a new signal wed all be well versed, its very similar to that which is used when someone blatantly cuts you off. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif however im still leaning towards the coon skin caps. isnt this how the "masonic" thing got started /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif

Noooooo, not the dreaded two flicks of the high beam flasher. In my car that's just taunting the prince of darkness to come out and play.

In the South that means there's a cop just up the road & you need to slow down.
