Let's come up with a gesture or greeting.

I'm trying to get every LBC fan to use the same gesture or greeting when passing other LBC'ers. I think the V for victory (or peace) would do well.

What do you think?

If I absolutely had to choose something a simple "thumbs up" but many use that with older cars.

Harley owners seem to have their own "wave": left hand down at their side.

Surely we can come up with our own...

How about a tip of the cap, and if you're not wearing a cap, grab an imaginary cap brim and give a tip of your imaginary hat, with a slight yes-nod.

"L" - "Loser" on the forehead?

holding up your old leaking heater valve? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

What was the old joke? Ferrari owners don't acknowledge each other, Porsche 911 owners flash their headlights before swerving backwards off the road, BMW owners wave their cell phones, Miata owners flip the barndoors while slaloming around sleeping SUV drivers, and MG owners wave their toolboxes?

Well, while sitting on the side of the road, we could stick our right thumb out, palm up as if we're asking for a ride! hehehe

I like Tony's but another possibility...throw one of yer empties out the window or if in a person-to-person a deep belch!!!

throw empty oilcans at each other ??

Heck, I just usually stick one hand up in the air, beep the horn with the other, and yell out loud what ever comes to mind at the time. The wave and verbal message can also be quickly modified when circumstances warrant.

Its funny, but when I wave at another driver, either in the Miata or in Dad's B, I usually go with the too-kool-for-skool two fingers lifted off the steering wheel wavelet. Sometimes, if I'm feeling real good, I nod. I tend to reserve frantic waving or light flashing for danger situations or people I know. Or both.

There's a guy in a green Miata I pass often enough that we recognize each other. I give him the two fingered too-kool wavelet and he gives a brief, almost military nod. Every single time. You know that if we worked together we'd never talk, except to call one another by our last names when passing in the hallway. You know, Hopkins (nod)... Watkins (nod).

I do that now (for Brit cars), palm outward. Knuckles outward if I see a French car.

(FOR SERIOUS.. BASILS SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY GENT LIKE RECOGNITION) I like it a tip o the hat action.....
even seems BRITISH!! Of course we could also include the in-person-to person belch I suggested as well!!

Question 1: What's wrong with French cars? I rather like 'em. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Question 2: Where on earth do you see French cars? If they're as common as you suggest, maybe I should move down to Springfield!

Gestures? I won't go there... but these days it's enough just to get a wave from someone (as opposed to a gesture). I get waves from other Miata drivers all the time, I used to get waves from bikers when I was driving my TD replica (don't know why, but I did), and I get waves from MG drivers whenever I'm in the MG - its rare to see two MGs together on the road here, but it happens.

I think its odd that classic brit-car owners don't always recognize other classic brit-cars that way though. There are a couple of Triumph drivers around that simply will not wave. There's no MG-snub there, they're just oblivious.
