legal at last

I am pleased to report that at 5:15 this evening, I walked out of Connecticut DMV holding final registration papers and my permanent plates.

With a grin on my face as wide as a ... Bugeye grille, I spent an hour driving home, using every two lane blacktop in the area. Didn't need the cell, Hagerty service, AAA, or the fire extinguisher!

I could get very enamored of this car, which I'm calling (at least temporarily) TeeYah (get it ...????).

OK - I have no shame (or creativity). Anyway, TeeYah is now legal at last.

And if I could figure out why there's a pronounced front end shimmy at speeds over 45mph, I'll be an even happier grinner. Think I'll get some new tires and get the wheels balanced. And do some diagnoses on those rusty floorpans.

Onward through the fog!
Tom

Huh? Oh, you're in Connecticut, and ... O.K., I get it!

Congratulations!

Tom,

Lot's of progress since I was over to see you about the starter. The car is looking much better with plates and on the road.

Good luck!

Tom where in Ct are you?
we could go cruising together... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

the fun starts now!!!

The is no such thing as being temporarily enamored.

It lasts and lasts and lasts.

Have fun driving. And do it as much as you can.

Eventually people will recognize you. Tonight my wife and I were driving past an old 1920s theatre where there was a crowd lined up for a concert. I heard "hey look, there goes Mitch's Dad." Mitch is my 17 year old who lusts for my car.

We waved. Sometimes your obligated...

Congratulations Tom. I am sure you are very proud. It only took me 14 years to sort out the front wheel shimmy in my TR3! It took me 3 years to sort it in a TR4 I use to have. The TR4 turned out to be a bent rear wheel, and sure enough both front wheels on the TR3 were buckled! However, the shimmy seems to have returned on my TR3 so more investigation is required.

Congratulations Tom!

As an ex-New Englander myself I get the TeeYah name ... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Have fun and drive the wheels off it.

Matt
