Elliot why did you go with green bulbs? Got may dash all apart to remove heater motor. Wiring oil soaked from oil pressure gauge leaking. Anyway decided to convert bulbs while i have easy access to all gauges.
I'm thinking of going white and a bit concerned that they my be too bright. I like 72djm76dkm converting to a digital rheostat. Wonder where he got that done. Now not all LEDs are dimmable. Do you know if yours are? I also saw on the listing a cool white bulb and wonder if it's not as bright.
Green bulbs? I didn't use green bulbs. There is a green lens in the instrument back that makes the light appear green.
I really don't know if they are dimmable since my rheostat doesn't work. If you find any info on a digital conversion I'd like to see it.

I got my interior LED bulb kit from classiccarleds.co.uk which includes the appropriately coloured bulbs for each location. The colours match the colour filters in the gauges, which are left in place. The filters are essentially transparent to the coloured light anyway but it gives a very saturated result. Mine are definitely brighter than the incandescents but I bypassed the rheostat anyway and have no issues with it being too bright.

Considering switching to LED’s for my instrument panel. Can I just simply cut out the dimmer? Is there a nice replacement for the hole : ie: clock? Any considerations and thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Will
I put in an on/off switch and used the original knob.

I dumped the rheostat as it never worked reliably and with old incandescent bulbs it was always on full anyway. It fell apart when I took it out. I used the threaded part of the switch and made up a bracket to mount my new intermittent wiper switch. On the last day of our 5200 mile trip across Australia and back it rained non stop. The passenger became the intermittent wiper operator. I bought the kit from Retronics in the UK and I think that Revington is selling it also. I used the rheostat knob so it looks original.

Took the tack out today and got my electric Dremel style tool out. Had a small fiber pad on a mandrel along with some high cut buffing compound and buffed the snout out of the blue lens inside the light fixture. also disassembled the tack because there was a chip on the black trim ring so had to repair it. Was surprised that where the bulb mounts and sticks through along side the tack frame is painted black inside. About a inch wide so I taped it off and painted the black chrome. Put it all back together and looks awesome. I think that black collar that goes around the perimeter of the glass has a lot to do with directing the lighting. Seems to have a steeper angle to one side and noticed a notch in it and on the frame of the tack. Put the two together and works perfectly now. Not 100% sure but I think the angled part was facing the left side of the tack blocking the light. The lens was not burnt at all.

Strange that the inside was black. All of my Smiths gauges were white on the inside to reflect the light.
In any case, glad you got to the bottom of it.
