that is pretty impressive.

All it would need is a chaingun!

:iagree:

I am by no means 4X4 guy, but this thing gets me excited. Especially the idea that maybe, just maybe, the Army might get wind of it.

Seems kind slow and encumbered for an actual combat situation. Kinda sitting duck climbing those rocks.

Heavily armored and unmanned....could be an excellent recon vehicle or bomb disposal....makes me think of a mechanical mountain goat.

This could have some utility:

V.S what? Climbing a mountain with 110 pound sack on your back??????

Heavy armor and a remote mini should do the trick.

Still a sitting duck. It's practically a stationary target.
I'd be tempted to put my sack in the whatchamacall it, but I wouldn't want to be crawling up rocks in it if there was any chance of an RPG or rocket pointing down at it.
The thing is for recreation, a hydraulic toy.

Definitely a toy. When they finally get that thing stuck it will be stuck.

The same as any other vehicle. In a combat environment, any soft skinned vehicle is pretty much a sitting duck. If something like this could be made rugged and reliable, and still be kept lightweight, it would make a fantastic military vehicle. It could take a fire team places that almost nothing else could.

Seems like they'd hear you coming and have a long time to be prepared for the team's arrival. It's called a "crawler"for a reason, you know.

As with any light vehicle, it's not for sneaking up to the bad guys and storm the camp like in the movies. It would be great for getting places in rough terrain, such as in afganistan, especially with remote aircraft support. You would get a lot farther, faster than walking through that stuff. You would still have to dismount when getting close, or engaging. It would be no more noisy than a Hummer, Jeep, Quad or other vehicle, but much more versatile. In fact, judging from the sound on the clip, it would be much quieter as there is less gunning the engine and more "crawling". When in the rough stuff, it is a crawler, but again, looking at the film, it is pretty capable of highway speeds when the going isn't so rough. And another thing, the bad guys would have to do more than sit on a hill and watch the road approaches from now on, cause they would never know where you were coming from.
