I was talking to a friend when he told me is digital crock pot quit one him.

"You have a digital ~WHAT~????"

I find humor in the fact someone would computerise something as low tech as a crock pot. It's about as advanced as a toaster. Therein lies the beauty, it's a low tech piece of equipment you don't have to monitor and will last for DECADES if cared for. Kelly still has the one her mother gave her in college and her mother used it for years before that.

He proceeds to tell me it died 'cause the board went out in it. He proceeds to tell me about all of the wonderful things his Wolfgang Puck digital crock pot can do......well at least it could do it at one time.

I am absolutly hysterical over the fact that the "improvement and wonder" is the EXACT reason it doesn't work anymore. He defends it by telling more of it's wonder functions....that no longer work.

"Dude, if it didn't have all that crap it'd still work!"

I'm dying at this point. I find the irony overwhelming as we joke back and forth about this. I tell him it's like making a digital brick, no need for improvement as it works just fine. Some things you can't improve on 'cause you're not supposed to. A heating element, a cord and a switch is all you need. No need to "control" or monitor anything.

~WELL~......his wife overhears the conversation and ~she's~ not the least bit amused. She is a faithful follower of Heir Puck. She took it pretty hard that her digital Wolfgang Puck crock pot kicked the bucket and now she won't even be in the same room as me.

She's all upset I laughed at her dead pot. I explain to him it's not about her, nor about the fact it's dead, just the irony of all the functions you paid extra for is the very reason it doesn't work anymore.

Digital crock pot......

What's next......digital toothbrush? :smirk:

(lemme guess, they have those too.)

Oh well....

I remeber those from years back. I thought they were battery powered.

You might have a deal only if it's approved by Heir Puck.

Might be worth that some day. I just checked, the Popiel family store looks to be out of business. I bought two scramblers from them a couple years back. (Had to empty out about six dozen eggs for a movie.) The Ronco website doesn't seem to carry them at all.

Digital CROCK POTS?!?!

Get a hand pump to lift fuel from undreground tanks and keep vehicles NOT run by chips...

...jus' sayin'.

Wifey has a digital crock pot here. I like my old one. one knob, 2 settings, "Hi" and "Lo" always works.
She wants a new microwave too. Old one still works like new. Leave it be!
