Leather upholstery for MG

I haven't, but I sure would like to. Gary will chime in soon; he redid his seats in leather. (Almost the only thing that differentiates his car from mine, I believe.)

Someday I will redo mine in leather. (Just so I can match Gary . . . whose car is about as far across the continent as it could possibly be from mine!) But the vinyl is perfectly new, and I've got lots of other things I need to spend money on first!
 
My wife did some seats for me!! She went to the leather shop, bought a nice soft cow hide the right color and we called Moss and the sent us the correct piping and she did it!! If you go to this site, there are a couple of shots of them, of course they are just on the frames loosely in the pictures!! They are properly installed now and all the wrinkles and such are gone!! If you're not capable of making seat covers yourself a custom shop can do it, but there are a few places around that sell the leather products ready to install. I've seen a few cars done with these products and they look great, and are available in different colors and styles: https://www.prestigeautotrim.com/usa/pages/mg_home.htm

As for the importation question, you're stuck if the car is newer than 25 years if the car doesn't meet federal safety standards for the year the car was made. Cars made after the second half of 1973 must also meet federal bumper standards (not quite sure how 1974.5 chrome bumper MGs fit into that but...) Yep, Chuck...Jack & I are both members of the local British car club & Jack owns "Jack's Toys", a Jaguar restoration facility in H'ville...&, sorry, Gary: we're both retired Army colonels!
 
I used leather seats (black with red piping)that Moss supplied. The quality and fit are excellent and I thought the price was right. Victoria Long also supplies leather kits but at the time Moss was offering a better price. For the best appeareanceitdis adviseable toget the seat foams as well.
 
Leather seat covers to original specs. Leather seating surface on backs, all leather bottoms. I got the correct style for my '69 MGB - black with black piping. Headrest covers were an additional ÂŁ38.00. Shipping to the US was an additional ÂŁ22.00. That comes to around $340 delivered. It takes 2+ weeks for delivery.

Those seats look good. I will be doing seats of my own, and I wonder what sort of sewing machine those were done on. My friend bought an industrial machine to do some seats in an old International Panel Truck.

She has an industrial, but it is set up to sew wedding dresses, so she used her Bernina, but trust me, it is not a normal Bernina!!
