Leather Interior Question

I know I am beating this topic to death in here (apologies) but I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the John Skinner seat kits (I am pretty sure these are the ones that both Moss and AH spares sells).

Specifically, has anyone purchased their fully trimmed seat kits or sent their seats to be trimmed? Are their installation skills worthy of Concours quality? Are the colors concours quality (I'm looking to do red) Main issue is making sure they don't look overstuffed or wrinkled.

Also, with respect to coloring, I'd like to keep the kick panels and rear deck in vinyl to keep the BJ8 square embossed pattern, but have leather seats. Will mixing this up like this result in a mis match in color? I am pretty sure this is how they did leather interiors from the factory, i.e. kept the kick panels and rear seat back in vinyl, never leather.

I know there's Heritage and Pheonix, but pricing and wait times aren't exactly selling me on those guys, plus John Skinners been doing these interiors for almost 30 years.

Hi Alan,

I'm not following this sentence: rear deck in vinyl to keep the BJ8 square embossed pattern

I was under the impression, that if the interior was leather, the rear seat back(behind the two small seats) was leather and tufted differently than the vinyl was and the rear side panels were not square embossed anymore, instead solid vinyl.

The back of the leather front seats were done in vinyl.

As I said, I'm not sure.
Looking forward to this answer too.

Roger, I misunderstead his question. My "seat backs in vinyl" was referring to the back of the front seats, not the rear seat back.

healynut, there are at least two red colors being sold now by moss and others such as the kits found on ebay, one color is called "ox blood" its the darker color of the two, i dont know the name of the second color but its lighter meaning brighter and leans more to the pinkish side, i dont think this one is an original color at least ive never seen it on an original car, i have a red interior in my bj7, its a cheep replacement kit installed by the p.o. and it looks like old greek diner seats, very ugly, but my dash has the original "ox blood" covering, while rebulding the pass. side window regulator i found a 2'x3' piece of the original red ox blood leather the healey factory interior shop had left inside the door, very handy since im a bit color blind, it great to have when shopping for a leather replacement kit, i guess what im saying is get samples and check your heritage cert. for the color red the car was born with. if you check the kits being sold on ebay youll notice the seller mentions several times in the add. that his kit is the "dark" one, thats the ox blood, its a very good kit and the ebay seller is a moss distributor.
