Leaky TiDi [rhymes w/ tiki] transmission

That was the one I was talking to you about. They came back and told me it was sold already.

Well, at least they got back with you - I'm still waiting to hear from them

Update on the leak!

Most of the leakage seems to be coming from the speedo drive as I described before. I talked to John Twist and he didn't think that should happen and he teaches the classes on that gearbox.

That leads back to the questions I had about it being overfilled but why is the oil not showing on the dipstick?

Answer: The PO sawed the dipstick off so he could get it in and out of the gearbox after he installed a period heater under the dashboard! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif

I bought an correct, unmolested dipstick at the Vintage MG club swap meet on Sunday. It's about 5" longer than the one in my car. It has lines and words and all kinds of good stuff on it! Wow! I guess mine had been reduced to serving as a plug.

Now I just have relocate the heater over about 3" to the left so I can use the new dipstick and correctly measure the oil level. (It should already be better because I put in less than I took out the first time.)

Gotta love it! Hopefully, that will reduce the flow to a more appropriate British drip.
