Leaky heater valve?

Scratch one OEM heater valve! :wall:

The O-ring fix didn't work. Put the "fixed" valve on, went for a drive, and the dang thing leaks exactly like before. :madder:

Just got off the Moss website, ordered a new heater valve. Should be here in a day or two.

Oh well, we tried, guys. Thanks for all the great support and input.

Maybe I should buy stock in Moss? :cryin: :thirsty:

Nah, just be glad they make/stock the parts as necessary. I tried to repair my old valve as well, and too gave up and just bought a new one. The new one works just fine.

Mark, I am really bummed to hear that it didn't work out. Same for yours, Drew. There must be some trick we are missing. :madder:

I would love to see that valve--I'm curious about how it works and why it's irreparable. I can't count the number of valves of different kinds I've fixed over the years.

Sorry it didn't work out!

There has to be a way.

Don't forget to polish and clear coat the new one before installing.

I chalked it up to some things are just old and worn out. Given all the stuff I was repairing/replacing while I was putting the Tunebug together, one more little part to replace was the least of my worries. The new one will probably outlive me, and I'm not that old.

Yeah, I just figure that if a person can get all the parts you need to completely rebuild an a-series engine out of a catalog, getting a seal for a li'l ol' valve and putting it in shouldn't be impossible! Well my day may come. The heater valve on my car hasn't been opened for years and years. Maybe I should leave it be.

I really hate that - just don't make quality stuff anymore - used to be you could get a century outa this stuff, now 5 decades - tops. BTW don't buy stock in Moss, try Samuel Adams instead.

Samuel Adams, or maybe Kentucky Fried Chicken. I heard KFC is opening one new store every day in China.

Very bad news for Chinese cats, I'd say, but good for their stock prices!
