found the source of my leaking transmission, NO FREAKING GASKET, Either DPO or CAM, thats crapy ass mechanic, some people should not work on cars! should have checked it weeks ago when I had the transmission tunnel off changing the rear motor mount, but end of day too many beers and was tired, but its fixed now and since I have the radio out must purchase new radio and amp!

This probably doesn't work for a TR6, but for any TR4A owners that had the original speaker mounted under the dash at the passengers feet, I found that the 2 holes for the speaker bracket could be used to mount an amp without adding any additional holes to the car. I used the 2 holes to suspend a mounting plate to which I attached the amp.

almost finished with the new radio with Dvd player, so if I get stuck some where can watch a video while I wait for a tow.

Well, isn't that just lovely???

But Hondo, it's still better than finding a crack in the cover or case.

The real problem is that its NOT under the bench while a Celica 5 speed takes over its duties for the next 200k!!Lets face facts you only found the PRIMARY leak, the old brit box has others. Not only that, the 6 box is prone to layshaft failure when it gets over 100k.....has this one been re-freshed?? if not get it out and #1 go through it(if its an OD box)(which yours aint).#2 put in the better toyota unit.#3 just drive it till it goes out.(have towing insurance!)

Well MD I doubt its been refreshed since I dont know the history but it all looked good on when I took the hat off, it still shifts fine, now that I can keep oil in it, at one point it was jumping out of 3rd but when I change the transmission oil, actually when I filled it up it solved that issue, and now if it stops leaking I am good for at least 10 years since I only drive it about 2000 miles a year.

now what do I work on Next.......

Hondo

ps thanks for the oil gauge
