Bas- that's the same car I wanted to buy. I was considering a Ford Torino and the Capri. I tried to get the Capri salesman to throw-in the AM radio and he refused. The very day I bought the Torino the Capri guy calls me to say he would include the radio. Seems silly now looking back … making a decision over an AM radio!

Seems silly for that salesman to loose a sale over a friggin' AM radio!

Haven't heard Niki Laudas name mentioned in a long time. He was one of my favorites a few years back. :encouragement:

When Janet and I were looking to buy our first new car in '73, I wanted a Capri V6; she wanted a Celica. She won.

BElieve it or not Mick.It was between a green Celica ST and the Capri for me.
The Capri won...only because my dad had positivelly nixed the 1800ES..:frown-new:

Man, there were a lot of those around in the 70s and early 80s, all but gone now, I always thought it was a pretty neat package with the v-6. I have not seen one in the flesh in a long long time.

We bought a gold Celica. Turned out to be a great car. Would love to find one like it now.

A friend of a friend had one he just wanted to get rid of. This was around 1984. He had lost the keys for it.

It was in decent shape but dirty. Ran fine. Silver blue with 2000cc and four speed.

I gave him a dollar for it (to make it legal) and managed to swap the ignition key with a junkyard part (cost about $15).

Sold it for $450 which was a nice profit.

Well, this was a coincidence. I was watching an episode of Columbo on Netflix tonight and in one of the scenes, there was a very nice metallic gold 1973-or 4 Capri sitting on the street. I really liked that little v6! It was a hoot to drive!

Capris were often known as inverted hedgehogs in the UK because of the nature of their drivers. I'll leave you to work that one out. Not sure I could explain without breaking forum rules!
