Lawn mower question.

Lawn mower question. I turn the mover on its side to replace a belt and now the plug is fouling when trying to start. I set it upright and waited an hour the first time before trying to start. Bought a new plug it fouled also. There is no information on mechanic anymore in the real, so does anyone here have a suggestion on how to remove the oil the cylinder. It is a kind of new mower.

Steve - assuming your plug is fouling because of oil in the cylinder, I've used this method with success.

I used cheesecloth instead of paper towels, and made sure to have a bit sticking out of the hole so I could pull it back up easily.

If you have a vertical crank, turn the mower on a side such that the piston/cylinder point to the sky for a while. Oil doesn't drain back well to the sump from a horizontal cylinder.

Just a WAG on my part but: Plug out, spin the thing on the starter 'til it stops spitting oil, reinsert the plug and start it.

As above, then drop oil before changing belt again.

Thanks guys-- the mower is a new hand pull start Toro. Yes drop the oil next time. This time the paper towel idea sounds effective. At first I was going to pour gas into the cylinder from the spark plug hole, but that I would dry out the cam and crank and perhaps do something I would regret, maybe. My go to tool is still a hammer. Anyways thanks so much for providing a plan.
