I'm waiting for another project to start up next week, so I thought I would knock down a few car illustrations while I wait. Good ol' Jaguar D-Type

Wow!
Really, really, really NICE!

I saw this one at the Moss Motors FallFest show (here in NJ) about a month ago.
It is an Australian-built replica.
Another fellow sometimes comes to NJ car shows with one that he built here in NJ, entirely from scratch (including a hand-hammered aluminum body). It's just as nice as this one.
Replica or not, these are gorgeous cars and a pefect subject matter for your very fine work!

Neat-- Saw and heard one just like that last weekend here in KC.. It was also backed in with people also milling about as in your pic!

I don't think you've done anything I haven't really liked. Beautiful!

More nice work.

Do you start with an picture and modify from there, or are you working freehand? Just curious. If I can ever divert enough money from my car fund, I'll be adding a few of these to my picture collection.

Always interesting to see how an artist creates their work. Do you import the reference pic for the car and work over it, or just have it handy? I'm always impressed by folks who can draw with this sort of skill/talent level.

Maybe because I've got none--even my stick figures are a bit wonky. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Careful Nial... NZ ain't Oz... Which Oz company wazzat? Here's a shot of another one "over th' shoulder" of a Maser bein' hammered out... My friend and ex-partner is the head honcho "down there." It looks like a Tempero badge on th' nose of that "Jag.".

EDIT: I thought Basil had put up the photo subdirectory... sorry. I'll link it later.

Very, Very, nice!!!!
I use photo-paint to do my illustrations, however, I've not done any lately. I've been anxious to acquire a WACOM tool, but will use the airbrush modes to create my values. I prefer starting on a dark surface as well, and freehand with the trackball. Glad to see that you're a traditional artist and an excellent one, at that.
"Exquisite!"

Careful, Cliff.... she's after your Mini. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
