Does anyone know of a source for the TR2 grill molding? It's the one piece
one that covers bottom and sides only. They are either NA or not listed with the big 3. Any ideas would be appreciated !!

Hey Frank...you working on a TR2? I'll be getting serious about mine come the end of the year....
 
How about the fake molding that Mark Macy came up with? It looks pretty good in his photo:

Another thought : Call up John Swauger @ TRF and see when they might be available. Their latest web catalog suggests that they are working on the TR2 surround. They might even be looking for a guinea pig to try out the latest sample, or have a rejected sample that your friend could use temporarily.
 
Went through similar issue with my 56 TR3. Moss UK does, or at least did, stock them, but could not get it to fit at all. Eventually returned for credit. Did the same as Mark did before he came up with his kit. Cheers, Mike

Yes, but the two photos both show the TR3 full surround molding...The late TR2 one is one piece and only does the bottom, the two sides and then goes just around the top corners & then stops. Thanks to the VTR website, I found a photo.

Well, sorry I don't have a photo showing the TR2 style molding. But since it starts as a continuous plastic molding, it should be easy enough to cut a longer piece and fake a TR2 style molding (without the connector pieces).
 
Or, the B E A U T I F U L pic in my signature block!! Was going to replace it, but it sounds like I'll have to redo it...





 
Per Randall's suggestion, I talked to John Swauger @ TRF this AM. No dice on
"repo"ing the moulding. He says based on the low production run (approx. 3400) and the
percentage of survivors that might need the molding, they can't justify having any made.

Bummer! Oh well, it was worth a shot.

A possible suggestion is to try bending a piece of copper tubing to shape, cutting away where it needs to lay over the edge of the opening, and then having it chromed. Lots of work, though, and probably too easy to bend during handling.

Or make up a CAD drawing and send it out to be 3D printed.
 
John I would always try to redo an original part. May explain why it's taken over 6 years to get my car almost done.
 
I think you're right, Keith. I'm just at the beginning of my 6 years...so it's hard to see much past the work. My chrome guy is gonna love me!
