Late rear brakes, Bugeye -- rods adjusted

Okay, I've got the parking brake rods adjusted now using spritenut's trick of cutting the rods and threading them for 1/4-20. Using a union nut, you can then adjust the length to suit. If they need to be even longer, use 2 nuts and a bit of threaded rod.

Here's my current install. The parking brake is not adjusted, just in there close to see if this is going to work. I think I have this roughly the proper way -- the shorter rod from the LH side goes to the side of the compensator closest to the axle (as shown). Please comment if this doesn't look right.

Also, how much do I need to have taken off the brake drums to get them to fit with the later backing plates? They're definitely too deep to fit as it is.

I sanded off about 1/16" off the brake drum.
A grinder works too, it is the inner edge so it's not too important as long as it doesn't rub. The true test is hard corners, the car I just finished makes just a touch of noise going around a circle, but it will wear off like it did on the 58 in a few hundred miles

Thanks, Frank.

hay Drooartz, I've just seen your picture while searching for something else brake related, & I've noticed your brakes are upside down. The handbrake leaver should exit the backing plate facing up. either that or I put mine on wrong yesterday & I was holding the workshop manual the wrong way up.

aw nuts, ignore what I just posted, just seen another post as to why you've got them the other way up. They do look a little vulnerable though.
