Hi all,
I am sure this has been dragged out a thousnd times, but what is the largest tire and wheel combo that will fit a stock fendered tr4. Car will be lowered as well, planning 100mm-125mm ground clearance.
thanks
Rob

Hi trfourtune,

I`ve seen quite a few TR4s with "Stock" TR6 rims and tires. The look is pretty nice if thats what you like (15").

I`m sure you`ll get to see a bunch of pics on this thd. regarding your request.

can a 205 series tire fit without fender modifications?? 7" rims?
Rob

Someone will prove me wrong, but I really doubt you can fit 7" and 205 profiles - particularly if lowered. I think in the front you will either get fender clearance issues, or interference on the upper a-arms.

I have seen 205 series on 6" wide wheel on tr6 and i know i can fit 195/65-15 tires on 5.5" rim but am considering bigger.
Anyone??

I put 215/60 15s on mine, but I had to space out the wheels because of their offset. I am using a set of Sendel wheels. The spacers correct the offset of the wheels and bring the tires out to the edge of the flare. There is a lot of discussion on wheel and tire size on the forums at Britishv8.org

thanks Dan. I saw mostly tr6 fitments except for one with 6" tr6 wheels and 205 tires. doesn't seem to look right though. it looks like the OD is smaller and the car needs to be lowered more to take up that space above the tires. Oh well, guess i cant have my cake and eat it too.I like the look of the 195/65-15's OD filling the space just considering grip though.

dan, is that tire on a 6.5" wheel?

Hi trfourtune,

Take a look at a `65 TR4 on www.britishcarlinks.com classifieds.

Mean looking little sucker with TR6 rims!

Regards,

Russ

I honestly can't remember, but I am thinking they are 7"

I looked up the original diameter for the stock tires, and the 215/60s match it almost perfect. Interestingly, the 165 recommended replacement radials for the stock bias tires are quite a bit smaller in diameter.

I don't have a picture of the car with those wheels and tires on it yet. I will try to remember to take one and post it this evening.

the 165 original tires are 25.4" diameter. not too many 15" performance tires come to that diameter. I didn't want to up size the wheels to 16" or 17" but who knows, Its all bench racing at this point. Bigger wheels make it much easier to fit a serious brake upgrade.
