larger flex fan

Yet another overheating thread

Time for a new rad core and when I am at it I am determined to cure the overheating problem once and for all.
Engine is new as is the water pump

I already have a Texas Cooler fan (or at least a yellow plastic fan that I think is a TC) but it seems to me that it is all about airflow at idle. I also have a Tiger and my airflow thoughts are proved out in the article on Tiger cooling tests and I suspect that similar airflow issues exist with the Healey.

Is a stainless flex fan more efficient than the TC?
Same question with a larger OD flex fan

Is there any reason why one cannot use a larger OD stainless flex fan? It looks tight at the Kilmartin/Nock fan shroud but it could be made to fit. Yes I know it is noisy but efficiency is more important to me. Surely someone here has tried this

Is there an electric fan with a low enough profile to fit between the rad core and the X braces?
IF the core can be offset in the stock tanks now is the time to deal with pusher fan clearance

Maradyne makes a low profile 14" fan that will fit the stock radiator installed as a pusher (you would want to leave the core in the stock position to maximize clearance up front) The fan is available here: www.thewedgeshopstore.com
I had to bend the crossbrace forward a bit for it to fit:

Here's what it looks like mounted to the front of the radiator:

Having said that, I wasn't satisfied with how it cooled my V8 and ultimately went to an aluminum radiator, which I'm still evaluating.
