Land Rover Defender - and Home made special

So, out and about today and stopped for coffee. As I was leaving this 1984 defender pulled in (even Diesel IIRC) RHD - and muddy! Gotta love a vehicle used for what it is meant to be used for.

and then, stopped for lunch and this was in the Parking Lot - Home Built. Not exactly looks I love, but, cudos to the guy who built it. I was chatting with him and he handbuilt the frame - engine is a 2 litre Pinto and running gear also. MG wheel and (I think) gauges) The paint was delaminating some, but, he sure was having fun!

BTW - the wheels made this car. They were made in the '70's by a company doing Model A kit cars - (Shay?) anyways, the bolted right on the Pinto rims.

That's a neatly done special -- so many are just a VW chassis, this one's had some thought into it, and from the pictures the proportions don't look too bad.
