Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Just wanted to let everyone know that there will be lots of room for vendors at the Inn at Grand Glaize, Osage Beach, Missouri, June 26-29, 2008. We have a number already planning on attending with whatever wares they have.
Everyone is welcome from the big boys all the way down to someone who just has a few Spridget parts to sell out of the boot! There is no charge for vendors but we can't furnish tables..etc. It's strictly bring it yourself or
work off your tailgate.

If you have special needs as a vendor we will try to accommodate as long as we have advanced warning. So don't be shy! Just let us know your special needs.

Trailering a Spridget?? No sweat! We have lots of trailer parking on the south side of the Hotel parking area. There is also a car wash available
there courtesy of the Inn at Grand Glaize. Oh! And there is free wireless internet at the hotel!

If you think you might want to participate in the autocross, a helmet will be required. We will have a few loaners, but you'll be more comfortable if
you bring your own.

The Inn at Grand Glaize is filling up fast!! There aren't many rooms left so be sure and get your reservations in ASAP!!

Finally.... Don't forget to pre-register online at the website!! We can't guarantee to accept your registration after June 1st so the price goes up accordingly. Remember, your registration fee isn't profit for anyone! It is
all gobbled up with costs like insurance, permits, venue rentals, mailing, postage and other event costs. Our event committee is all volunteer and they thank you all for sending in your registration as early as possible...

Please check the website for a lot of new updates and information:

Cheers!!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Man, I hope I can go. Would be nice to find a few extra parts that I've been looking for.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Mapquest says 1744.53 miles in 24 hours and 54 minutes.

Hmmmm....

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Boy it is a central location! My Mapquest estimate from the left side is 1323.73 in 20 hours and 23 minutes!!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Wow - I feel close - 1,464 km – about 14 hours 32 mins from the frozen north (which judging by the weather today may or may not be thawed by then)

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

425 Miles for me... I can leave at 5 am and be there in plenty of time for lunch!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

1,566 km (973 miles) – about 15 hours 55 mins for me... don't think I would want to run my girl that hard on highways for that distance... need 3 days just to "baby" it there
Guess I will have to check to see how close the St.Louis airport is...

There might even be somebody with an empty seat passing through St. Louis that could hive you a ride!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Ouch, 1900 miles, 27 hours 9 minutes
I expect that with the turbo I should be able to shave off those 9 minutes by the time I get there. Barring a mechanical issue like a plugged relief tube or a jammed CD, it looks like about a four day drive each way. This should be an experience!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

609.33 miles - 9 hrs 42 min

gotta do a walk around on the trailer to check tires, wheel bearings, lights, etc.

However, MapQuest told me this:

Note to Missouri I-64/Hwy 40 Travelers:
Attention: All lanes of I-64/Hwy 40 will be closed in both directions between Ballas Road and I-170 in the St. Louis, MO area. This section of the construction project will be closed from January 2, 2008 through the end of 2008 to allow for The New I-64 reconstruction project. Local businesses will remain open during the construction and can be accessed using alternative routing. MapQuest is working directly with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to ensure accurate driving directions in the affected area, but you may wish to verify your route on MoDOT’s website, The New I-64 project. For your safety, always obey local construction and detour signs.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

542 miles from Dayton. Says average 64 mph = 8 hours and 34 minutes. Now if I tow, that 50 gallon tank on the Suburban can make it non stop and I can tow at 75 mph. But oh the pain when I've got to fill that baby back up.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Tony, it has been awhile since I've been in St.Louis, but I do not think that will affect many people unless they are planning on going to downtown St. Louis.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Yeah, I haven't been through St. Louis in a long time & don't know either....I was already planning on dodging St. Louis just because....

& if there was a way to go around Memphis, I'd do that also!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

North of Memphis Tony, through Dyersburg and across their bridge. That's my routeing and Kay is from there.

Certainly worth considering though you'll have to check the Midget - they won't allow it as carry on anymore

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

272 miles. I'm taking back roads and staying off the interstates unless a convoy becomes available.
The regional interstates around St. Louis are a nightmare at the best of times, worse in a small car.
There are some decent diversions.....

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Anyone need help getting a car from California
to the event?

- Doug

Re: Lake of the Ozarks up-date

Hi Doug,
Where in California? What kind of help? The closer it gets the more concerned I am about the insanely long solo drive in a 50 year old car. A backup plan might be a good idea just in case I actually develope common sense between now and departure day.
