Kruse auctions here in Hawaii.
Well, last year we had our first classic car auction. For us it was a pretty big deal. There are a number of "garage queens" and a greater number of drivers that people were hoping would be sold to good homes..
Hot rods, classics, sports cars, clunkers. Around 80 or so if I remember right.
We had a fellow lbc enthusiast from the big island contact Kruse about holding an auction. They thought it was a good idea and came to the state, did a fair amount of publicity and had a pretty good turnout for a first time event.
Sadly, they didn't do their groundwork before signing contracts.
They locked themselves into the most expensive venue(The Convention Center) for three years, with renting a monthly office. They put the auction on the same weekend as the ProBowl, so their was a signifigant alternative draw.
After their first year snafu, I guess they just decided to fulfill their contract and do no more. There was absolutely NO publicity put into this years auction. Nada, none,.
Rumor was their wasn't even going to be an auction because they dropped the ball big time last year, late payments to sellers, late title transfers, lost or stolen equipment from vehicles on the floor...
But because of their contract they came. And while the people who decided to try to sell their cars again were at the site paying to offer their cars the folks from Kruse were up partying on the North Shore, just some potatoheads manning the check in, who knew NADA..
So better than 80 cars again, 3 sold..
So much for Kruse Auctions...
