Kingpin Update

Well I did take the kingpins to a local machine shop and had the bushes pressed in. The bushes also required reaming. So if anyone attempts the same job as me I recommend a machine shop and save yourself some time and aggravation. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Interesting problem...I just did them on one of my GT's a few weeks ago & had no problem whatsoever!

I've done a bunch of 'em. But reaming them to size has always been "part of the drill."

Last set, all I did was hone & push...maybe I need to go back & look at those kingpins - but they're tight.

If they're snug, they're fine. Just so the "barrel" piece moves in the bushing. You've seen the A-arm damage by the bolt at through holes. That will only result if the "barrel" is not lubed or the bushing is too tight: The bolt becomes the pivot and wallows out the A-arm. Quick check is: while the car is on its feet, scribe an "index line" on the arm and the side of the bolt head, jack it up and allow full droop. The lower trunion is doin' it's job if the marks are still lined up. If not, you know the drill. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yep, thought I did - no problem with them...still, all I did on bottom was basically clean & replace....
