key barrel wont go back

ok guys I am on my way to store to buy 4 wire switch, and then go to where car is, I will have my laptop and reconnect then in about 1 hr I appreciate the help, and if anybody can answer if the wite wire is battery positve or is it the brown wire. Whan I get the instructions I will pass them on so I don't blow up the car hehehe...stay tuned ...later

If you put a meter on the brown wire it will have 12VDC on it at all times, so disconnect the battery when wiring in the new switch. Phil

o0k\ I am back,, repalcing swith,

four connection on switch

Battery
Ignition

Thanks guys , HopeI can help somebody someday.

I'm confused. What keeps the steering from locking up as you truck down the road?

JAck, I removed the old switch from the column, it was held on by two bolts, that unscrewed very easily. So there is no lock or switch or anything, just an empty hole in the cowl, where the key used to go. Now beside my radio where the cigarette lighter should be is a shiny chrome bezel around a silver ignition key hole. Looks kinda like it belongs.

Excellent. Good work. Just would not like to see steering lock up. Bummer that, could ruin your whole day.
