Keen, famous Sprite

When I was a college kid, I was always wishing and dreaming about SCCA racing in my Sprite.

And the "big" racing names I knew back then were Joe Hauser, Randy Canfield and Ray Stone. Those guys were among the top Sprite racers in the US. This was about 35 years ago.

Now, all these years later, they all showed up at the Jefferson 500 Vintage that I ran in two weeks ago.
Ray Stone actually raced in the same race as me (he whupped all of us).
Here's his Bugeye. Nothing wild or crazy about it....just an elegantly simple, fast Frog.
Probably one of the fastest A-powered vintage Sprites in the world. I got to talk to Stone too...a nice man!

Very cool! Still running a 948?

Looking at the engine bay, those carbs look like twin 1.5"'s so wouldnt that be overkill on a 948, racer or not?
